My Favourite Green Smoothie Recipe

This has been a go to recipe for me for a few years now and I love using it when I need a boost of veggies. This contains a lot of fibre and may be too much for some, if that is the case only drink half a cup at once. Always remember to chew your smoothies, it sounds silly but it’s important for digestion! Saliva contains enzymes that kick start digestion and the act of chewing also switches on the rest of the digestive tract (Our ancestors didn’t drink smoothies after all). This is very much a nutrients over taste smoothie, but as your tastebuds change and you move away from processed and sugary foods you’ll learn to love it as much as I do!

Super Veg Green Smoothie

4 x stalks of celery

2 x cucumbers

1 x small cos lettuce

1-2 x avocados (depending on their size and how thick you like your smoothies)

1 x bunch parsley

1 x bunch coriander

Optional

Small knob of fresh ginger

1 tsp greens powder, I use Changing Habits, this has stevia in it and that’s the only sweetener I use

1 x handful blueberries or strawberries, I personally don’t add these but they’re a good option if you’re adjusting to a low sugar lifestyle, warning that they may make your smoothie go a bit brown

1 scoop collagen powder, I use Gelpro

1 tbsp MCT oil

Note: I don’t always have every single ingredient on hand and play around with the exact ratios but as long as you have the avocado for the texture it will work. If I have kale, lettuce, cooked zucchini or other ingredients in the fridge I will throw them in as well.
